Multimedia Story Critics

One-Armed Soccer Kid:

I think the photographer does a great job at introducing the video. Pictures of the kid's uniform and kicking the soccer ball show that Lucas can play soccer just like any other soccer player in his age group. The voice over of Lucas speaking about his love for soccer matches with his images - and this works because it is Lucas voice that is first heard at the beginning of the video. Then the voice over transitions to the photographer/reporter, and this works because he introduces information about Lucas.

However, there is lack in the variety of shots in the video. I would have loved to see his interaction with his teammates on and off the field by having the photographer capture "moments". This method would be effective enhancing the love that Lucas has for the sport because is also shows through his relationships with his peers. There is also some footage that moves - which I found annoying - because the photographer was running to the field.

Teachers Boot Camp

I do not think this video was focused on the teachers participating in Boot Camp. The video presents information on why it is important for high school teacher to understand why high school graduates choose to enlist in the marines. But I think that the video lacks presenting visuals on the activities that teachers do at Boot Camps, and relating the teachers Boot Camp experience to the Boot Camp experienced by enlisted perspective marines. The beginning of the video starts with NAT sound - which is great! BUT then transitions to a slide full of text - BORING! I would replace it with more images of teachers at Boot Camp - whether they are shooting with a gun, getting up early in the morning, and/or training.

This video has a great topic - BUT the execution failed to match it :(

Love at the Zoo

This video is awesome because it is a timeless feature about how animals express their affection to each other.
The video shows how male monkey's, zebras, and Red Panda's deal with love when the opposite sex is not to into love at the moment. The video captures unique moments of each animals frustration for fulfilling their "love" needs. I like how there is footage showing the Red Panda male desiring some action, BUT the female is not wanting anything, and instead sleeps. So the images captured show that the animal experiences what humans experience with regards to love.

Ballroom Dancing

The video did have some good images of participants dancing, and there was an interview with the Dance instructor included in the package, however, the package as a whole was not creative, entertaining and attention grabber. It simply looks like the photographer put the video together in about two hours, or less. The packaged could have included interviews with participants to find out why they attend ballroom dancing, and find out how often they come. But overall, the video was simple, and it could have been more creative.

Night Skiing

I really enjoyed this video. There is great footage showing people skiing during the late hours of the evening and into the night. The video includes NAT sound to give the audience a better "feel" for the skiing activity. I like how different people talk about why they enjoy skiing at night throughout the entire video. I really like the ending where the photographer is skiing as the package ends. This was a fun activity for the people skiing at night, and the photographer does a great job at portraying the fun/adventurous mood everyone is in during the night.

Feature Writing: Spring Break is Over :(

So, it's Sunday, and classes start tomorrow - AGAIN. I am not to excited about going to classes tomorrow because I can just imagine all the stress I will experience this last half part of the spring semester, but on the other hand, I am ready to get it over. I have a lot of plans to look forward too this summer and fall. Hopefully, this summer I can get a job and visit my cousin in Germany - she lives there and has invited me to come over and visit. I really want to go because I have never been overseas and I know I will have a GREAT time!. The Fall semester will bring major plans - I graduate from FSC and hopefully will apply to graduate school. But for now, I must focus on the present, which means successfully complete this last part of the semester.

This break was great, i rested, spent time with friends, and went out to different places.

Feature Writing: Spring Break

My Spring Break has been relaxing and fun. I have enjoyed waking up each day without having to rush to get ready to leave for class, and since I am a commuter, i must leave about 30 minutes before class starts - which sucks because that means I have to get up earlier too :( But Spring Break has allowed me to sleep in late and go to bed late - i have enjoyed both very much! I have also spent a lot of time with by best friend who will be graduating this year from FSC. We see each often on campus, but we wanted to spend as much time together on our last Spring Break while attending college together - and it has been GREAT!
During break, I had the opportunity to go to the Strawberry Festival - I have never been to it, so it was exciting to experience it for the first time. There was a lot of vendors, rides, crafts, and STRAWBERRIES. For a moment I thought there was more food vendors than there was rides - but it turned out to balance itself out after I got on a fast ride.
This was a very much needed break after such a stressful first half of the semester, but now I am looking forward to finish this semester off strong after such a relaxing week - and looking forward to a spectacular summer!

Feature Writing: Detroit Tigers vs. FSC Mocs

So I was one of six FSC students invited to sit in the box with the FSC Board of Trustees during this baseball game. I must admit, I have a great time watching the game from up high, and with the cold weather I was definitely happy I was watching the game from inside, and not from outside. Watching live games are a lot of fun, and I will sure do that again. I am not a big fan of baseball, but i must say - i enjoyed watching it live today.

Today was the first day to spring break, and this spring training game was a great to kick off my break :)

Feature Writing: Travel Articles

South to The Keys

I really enjoyed reading this article because it brings the writer brings a new perspective on how he prefers to enjoy his road trip to Florida. I have lived my entire life in Florida, growing up in the West Palm Beach area, and then moving to Polk County - Yes, I know, Polk County, I would have never ended up here if my parents had not decided to move during my Junior year of highschool.
Anyways, Florida attracts tourism at Theme Parks and beautiful beaches, and by reading this article the writer certainly makes a good point - Florida is precooked with what you should do to really say you have been in Florida doing the Florida thing. However, I agree with the writer, there are many other parts to the Sunshine state that are just as amazing. It is great to see how the writer and his son still have a great time without doing the typical Florida vacation.

Neshoba County Fair

I think it is interesting how the fair is successful in this area. A lot of people attend this fair to enjoy family time and various activities. I think it is great that this fair has been around for a long time, it is like a tradition for a lot of people who attend this fair. I like that it is old-fashioned because it gives people experience in that type of of lifestyle. I would not mind attending this event because it is something different.
